[MASTER’S THESIS] [2024/2025] [Team: Guglielmo Vitelli]ANNOZERO
[ANNO ZERO, Architecture for return, Gaza Strip]. AnnoZero responds to the housing emergency in the Gaza Strip by proposing a system of temporary, self-built, and sustainable micro-villages. Each settlement is designed to host around 265 people for a 15-year life cycle, offering an immediate yet structured response to displacement. The project operates on two interconnected scales: territorial, through a widespread strategy that restores agricultural land and transforms former devices of control into spaces for learning, community, and renewal; and architectural, through villages conceived as self-sufficient micro-communities built with the modular U-Build system, enabling simple construction, assembly, and disassembly. Beyond domestic spaces, each village integrates three essential public areas — a school/agora, a souk/market, and a covered square, built with lightweight, adaptable structures capable of evolving with the community’s needs. Rather than reconstructing the city, AnnoZero initiates a process of return, resilience, and rebirth, leaving behind traces in the landscape that become both memory and foundation for future urban regeneration.

[BACHELOR’S THESIS] [2022/2023] [Team: Guglielmo Vitelli]ARCHITECTURAL RETAIL
[Architectural Retail, between fashion store and exibithion space].Architectural Retail explores the evolving relationship between architecture and fashion, two disciplines that increasingly intersect within the contemporary store. No longer a mere commercial space, the store has become a cultural environment where objects, ideas, and experiences are showcased, discussed, and shared. As Rem Koolhaas notes, “Shopping is arguably the last remaining form of public activity,” and today fashion retail often assumes the qualities of an exhibition: curated, atmospheric, and deeply spatial.The research examines how architectural design shapes the visitor’s experience, shifting focus from the product to the consumer. Through a historical and typological analysis of both stores and museums , their forms, materials, lighting, and atmospheres , the study highlights the growing convergence between the two. The final chapter presents twenty case studies from the past two decades, organized into five categories, demonstrating how fashion retail spaces increasingly operate as museum-like environments where architecture becomes a key medium of display and narrative.

[”Volcano Horsemen Retreat” by Young Architecture Competion]The project reinterprets Hrossaborg as a refuge that reconnects the primordial Icelandic landscape with the intimacy of the encampment, centered around its most symbolic domestic element: the hearth. Conceived as a welcoming stronghold for travelers crossing the vast and desolate terrain, the architecture guides visitors along a path that becomes progressively more intimate.The journey begins with the large stable, the first visible structure at the crater’s edge, which orients pilgrims toward the heart of the volcano. The theme of the threshold shapes the entire project, articulated in three moments — arrival, crossing, and rest. After parting from their horses, travelers pass through a deliberate boundary, restoring the perception of the crater as a complete natural enclosure. A raised walkway then leads them into a sheltered communal core.At the center lies an open courtyard with a sunken hearth, the main gathering space and symbolic heart of the project. From here, the path continues outward toward a constellation of private cabins, each associated with smaller hearths, culminating in a final bonfire at the crater’s summit.The architecture expresses two complementary approaches: public buildings defined by sharp, carved geometries emerging from a solid base, and a village of simple hut-like cabins that evoke archetypal forms. Together, they transform Hrossaborg into a cradle-like landscape of shelter, encounter, and contemplation.

[WORKSHOP] [APR2024]STONET
[Milano Design Week+Agglotech].The project is founded on the principle of recycling, transforming production waste into a functional and expressive design object. By reusing excess materials, especially the worn vibrating-screen meshes from stone-crushing machinery, the piece turns the most difficult elements to discard into its defining feature. Resting on two monolithic blocks that house the meshes and supporting slabs, the object is assembled through a system of interlocking components, without external hardware, relying solely on weight, geometry, and precise grooves and millings. A custom anti-abrasion spacer ensures protection between stone elements while improving stability. Designed for easy assembly, disassembly, and multiple uses, the piece can function as a display unit, partition, equipped wall, or sculptural element. By showcasing different finishes on every surface, it becomes a three-dimensional catalogue of Agglotech’s materials and production processes, embodying both sustainability and narrative value.

[”Mountain Guardian” by TerraViva]The project reimagines the traditional mountain bivouac by proposing a vertical structure conceived as a landmark along the ridge. Externally, it appears as a compact, faceted monolith inspired by local rock formations, clad in a mix of expanded metal and smooth panels, with red steel elements referencing mountaineering equipment. Inside, the space is organized as a habitable tower, where suspended sleeping platforms, anchored by tension cables, overlook a full-height central void illuminated from above by a skylight. The layout evokes a vertical campfire: a communal ground level and four staggered layers of bunks, accessible through retractable ladders. Storage, foldable surfaces, and built-in furniture maximize functionality in a minimal footprint. Constructed with a timber balloon-frame system assembled from prefabricated modules, the structure rests on concrete footings and integrates systems for renewable energy and rainwater collection. The result is a compact, atmospheric refuge that blends landscape, symbolism, and contemporary alpine design.

[COMPETITION] [JUL2025] [Team: lcc.collective]WALL HOUSE
Suspended between rock and sea, the project reimagines the historic Minerva Tower at Punta Campanella as the core of an artists’ retreat. Set within a dramatic coastal landscape, the intervention combines two gestures: a sequence of essential new volumes hosting living spaces, and the careful restoration of the ancient tower, transformed into a place for artistic production.The new dwelling develops as a sober composition of ribbed-plaster blocks, culminating in a rooftop stair inspired by Casa Malaparte. The tower, preserved in its ruin-like identity, is reinterpreted through light inserted structures and a spiral staircase that connects flexible workspaces illuminated by zenithal light wells. Rather than imposing itself on the landscape, the project seeks resonance with it, a quiet fragment between ruin and rebirth, conceived as a place for living, thinking, and creating at the edge of the Mediterranean.

[“Centro de asociaciones y auditorio del Municipio de Biar”by Provincia de Alicante]. Before designing a public building, one essential question must be asked: what should a place for the community be like? Open, inclusive, accessible, safe, bright, flexible, familiar, green, and inspiring. La Llar de Biar is conceived as a shared home for the town, a meeting point that connects people, supports existing associations, and generates new initiatives. Although composed of two volumes, the building is unified by a single entrance, reinforcing its role as a cultural and social hub. The project offers a wide range of possibilities: theatre, cinema, regional events, music, workshops, and even spaces for remote work and meetings supported by appropriate digital infrastructure. It is more than a cultural center, it is a place for inclusion, innovation, and community life. Born from the transformation of pre-existing spaces, La Llar balances creation and reuse, becoming a new reference point for Biar’s public realm. Its ambition goes beyond function: it aims to strengthen identity, connection, and belonging, acting as a catalyst for the town’s future.

Dos edificios en uno: hacia la ciudad nueva, el Auditorio; hacia el centro histórico, el Centro de Asociaciones. Ambos están unidos por una plaza interior, un luminoso atrio de triple altura.
CONSERVATION & REUSE

The existing structure offers a series of opportunities that deserve to be preserved. The storage building is retained and repurposed to house the Auditorium’s Great Hall. The roof tiles are recovered for the new coverings, while materials from the demolitions are reused as aggregates for the new façade on Calle de la Barrera and for the atrium flooring.
CLIMATIC STRATEGY

The building’s sustainability goal is also achieved through an intelligent use of Biar’s environmental conditions, allowing for a drastic reduction of the internal volumes that require mechanical climate control. The bioclimatic spaces act as “insulating air buffers” between the occupied areas and the exterior environment.
SUMMER CLIMATE

The Atrium plays a fundamental bioclimatic role. Reflective curtains limit the entry of solar radiation and regulate levels of diffuse light in the rooms. The large triple-height volume acts as a solar collector and as an insulating buffer that protects the occupied spaces.

WINTER CLIMATE


The acoustic curtains reduce the volume of the auditorium, optimizing the mechanical heating system and creating a climatic buffer between the hall and the exterior. The atrium’s semi-transparent surfaces maximize solar gain throughout the day, helping to minimize the energy consumption of the climate-control systems.

Manifesto is a graphic project that brings social issues to the forefront, using visual communication as a tool to make data, numbers, and often overlooked realities both accessible and impactful. Through a series of bold, carefully composed posters, the project transforms raw information into a visual language capable of provoking thought, raising awareness, and encouraging critical reflection. The intention behind Manifesto is not only to inform, but to create a moment of pause, a space where viewers can confront complex themes in a direct yet nuanced way. By combining clarity, abstraction, and strong visual contrasts, the project seeks to reveal the hidden structures behind contemporary challenges and to stimulate a deeper understanding of the world we inhabit. Ultimately, Manifesto positions graphic design as an active agent of social dialogue: a medium that does not merely illustrate problems, but invites people to question, interpret, and engage.
